Common Purpose, the UK Chapter of the International Coach Federation (UK ICF), and Know You More have partnered to magnify the impact of the online UK101 Leadership Programme for young leaders across the UK, by providing free digital coaching sessions to the alumni of the programme.

The UK101 programme, developed by international leadership organization Common Purpose, is a new initiative launched in June 2020 that supports young people in the UK to develop their leadership skills. The free, interactive, online programme is open to 18-25 year olds and offers participants the chance to connect with each other and explore the UK101 leadership model, which was co-created with 1,000 young people. UK101 brings a fresh perspective to what it means to be a young leader with its focus on four interconnected leadership characteristics: radical, embracing, strategic and resilient.

Through this collaborative partnership, UK101 alumni are matched with a UK ICF credentialed coach through Know You More’s innovative platform. The coaching sessions support the young people to deepen their skills and confidence, and develop ideas on how they would like to take UK101 leadership skills forward in their lives.

Tim Mart, CEO and Co-Founder of Know You More, said: “This exciting initiative aligns perfectly with our Know You More social purpose of supporting young adults, from all background, through our “Level Up” Programme, in order to have the skills, confidence and belief to make their impact in the World. This is especially important time for our young people, during this time of COVID-19 as they decide on their future path.”

These digital coaching sessions were offered free of cost to thirty alumni of the inaugural June UK101 cohort as a trial, to measure whether the coaching sessions successfully amplified the impact of the UK101 programme. Depending on the results of the trial, free UK101 coaching sessions may be extended to future UK101 cohorts as well.

Felicity Hodkinson, President of the UK ICF Chapter, said: “Working with a coach is a fantastic way of anchoring and transforming knowledge and insights gained from training into beliefs, habits and actions. Our hope is that by matching UK101 alumni with ICF credentialed coaches that we can unlock a little more of the potential of this inspiring programme, and contribute to activating a new generation of leadership in the UK.”

Applications for the next cohort of UK101 are now open via commonpurpose.org/uk101

About the UK101 Leadership Programme

  • UK101, which has been in development since early 2019, takes inspiration from the remarkable leaders who started the National Health Service in 1948. This bold act of leadership created what subsequently became a symbol of the values that unite the UK. The initiative is named UK101 because young people today, who are looking to create their generation’s own unique legacy, will be the leaders when the NHS turns 101 years old, in thirty years’ time. The inaugural cohort of UK101 launched in June this year.
  • The UK101 online programme is underpinned by the UK101 Leadership Model. The model was co-created with over 1000 young people, aged 18-25, across the UK through a combination of surveys, workshops and consultations. The model articulates what kinds of leaders this generation wants to become in order to create their own unique legacy.
  • UK101 is supported and made possible by Trust for London, Penny Appeal, Barrow Cadbury Trust, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Halifax Foundation for Northern Ireland, Blagrave Trust, Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, Northern Ireland Community Foundation, William Grant Foundation, and Clore Foundation.
  • On completion, participants earn a digital UK101 leadership badge for their CV and online profiles. Applications are open via org/uk101.
