As the year comes to an end, we wanted to take a moment to thank you for being a valued member of our coaching community. We are grateful for the trust you have placed in us to support you on your coaching journey, and we appreciate the hard work and dedication you have put into your clients' personal and professional growth.
We look forward to continuing to work with you in the new year, and wish you a happy and healthy festive season.
But before we all sign off for the holidays, here are a couple of important updates 👇

🤝 Our New Partnership Program
Over the past few months, a number of successful new business opportunities have emerged through connections within the KYM membership. These opportunities have created a win, win, win for the coach, KYM and our social impact aims.
KYM also invests a significant amount of budget into marketing to help start conversations with potential clients. We believe that by channelling that investment back into the community, and formalising this opportunity in the shape of a programme for all coaches, we can add value and potentially greater resilience to coaches and their coaching businesses.
The partnership program has been designed with 3 options available for your to select from:
Option 1 - Introduction = You connect us via email to someone in your network responsible for coaching or leadership development. You receive £100 per introduction.
Option 2 - Opportunity = You connect us with someone in your network that is looking to source a supplier for a live coaching/training need. You receive 5% of the contract value.
Option 3 - Together = We work together to deliver a coaching/training opportunity for one of your clients. You receive 10% of the contract value.
A guidance document will be available in your coach handbook which goes into further detail about the three options available.
The program is open so feel free to reach out to a member of the KYM team or contact Adam Nosal directly via Slack or adam@knowyoumore.com regarding any opportunities.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Jane Brotchie who enabled us to test the program out and smooth over those first time lumps and bumps. Thanks Jane!
🚀 Build Up 2022 - 2023
Our coaching skills programme for 18-25 year olds is more than half way through. Our second cohort of 15 is going through the programme and progressing as coaches in a manner which is a privilege to witness. Here are a couple of comments from our facilitator team who observe the participants they coach, and in some instances are coached by them.
‘Great session this evening for the Coaching Practice Workshop 3. I was witnessing some great coaching in my triad group. Excellent presence, listening and summarising back. Some great contracting, establishing goals for the session and checking in at the end. Also witnessed use of intuition "I'm noticing this and wondering that,...." Hardly any leading questions at all. Really impressive stuff.’
‘I was quite blown away by the quality of my group and during my time as coachee, had quite a light-bulb moment! I noticed a balance between following a structure and resting in the important moments with careful attention and presence, before moving things forward to action and outcome. Quite exquisitely done.’
🚀 Build Up graduates and ‘Coaching =’
The graduates of our first cohort are now actively coaching in their own communities and between them have a global client base. For of them are at the vanguard of a suite of activities which we are calling ‘Coaching =’ (spoken as Coaching Equals). In one project our Build Up coaches are coaching Director and VP level staff in a multinational private sector organisation. In another, they are coaching members of the KYM coaching community*.
In both cases, the purpose is to bring together a client who is open to the possibilities of coaching with a coach who is able to partner with them. The detail of the subject and outcomes of the coaching will be confidential as always. In ‘Coaching =’ we are inviting an additional level of curiosity from both coaches and clients in relation to their experience of intergenerational coaching, doing our best to apply this curiosity in individual and group reflection once the coaching partnership is over.
*If you are interested in being coached by one of our Build Up coaches now or in the future please do express interest to jeremy@knowyoumore.com. Participating in this includes access to a great young coach and the chance to engage in a discussion that has some bearing on one of KYM’s broad intentions of ‘making coaching a more welcoming space for everyone’.
🚀Coaching practice for Build Up participants
One of the requirements for Build Up certification is that each participant completes 20 hours of coaching. You will all remember the challenge of collecting those first few hours! While it is important that each BuildUpee takes some responsibility for sourcing clients there are some things that KYM chooses to do to help them. One is that during Build Up we make connections between Build Up coaches and those who have been coached on Level Up. We offer Level Up coachees the chance for another batch of coaching, this time with a Build Up coach. It’s a great programme and a real win/win/win situation for coaches, coachees and KYM.
This year for the first time we are also trying to tap into wider networks to source potential clients for the Build Up participants. We will use social media and our own networks (including our coaching community) to share information about the coaching opportunity. If you are up for participating in this sharing please use your adaptation of the message below and attach the graphics available through this link.
“Here is a great opportunity to experience what personal and professional coaching is like. The participants on the Build Up Coaching skills programme run by Know You More are available to coach you! Have a look at the attached details and get back in touch with your expression of interest. Please bear in mind that you need to be aged 18 years or over. Coaching opportunities will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.”
When reaching out to your network please ensure you include the reference to age and the ‘first come first served’ allocation to coaches.
📜 KYM CPD Certificate
It is the time of year of your that you might be thinking about your coach accreditation (amongst other things). Don’t forget that KYM does its best to keep an accurate record of who attends ACE sessions such that at the push of a button you can download a certificate of your KYM related CPD activities (accessed through the menu at the top right of your portal front page). You will need to make the case that these experiences are appropriate coach CPD to your particular professional body.
✨ ACE events
We have had another great year of shared learning and discussion in what are collectively known as KYM’s All Community Events (ACE).
✨ Group Supervisions
ACE includes our group supervision sessions which have been running at a frequency of 3 sessions a month for most of the year. We have John Johnstone and June Watters to thank for these and look forward to more next year. Group supervision is booked on the KYM portal and is in high demand. If you book a space make sure you use it or, if your circumstances change, make your space available to someone else.
Some of the many comments made after supervision capture their value as a support for your coaching as well as a means of engaging with the KYM coach community.
‘Many thanks John Johnstone and the other coaches today in our group supervision. A warm, thought provoking and reassuring space. Much appreciated. A few items to add to my ever-increasing reading list too’.
‘Great supervision session today. Thank you June for supporting us through some really insightful discussions. I really appreciated your style.’
✨ Expert Live Sessions
Expert Live sessions have covered such diverse territory this year, with sessions being led by an international cast of speakers from both inside and outside of the KYM community. We have touched on coaching and neurodiversity; a coaches personal journey towards expertise; self work vs self esteem; trauma and grief in coaching; cross cultural coaching; and person centred coaching. Great sessions all of them, a real rich learning opportunity, delivered in a format that draws on the expertise from across all who attend.
You can find links to all the recordings and additional resources on the KYM #06expert-live Slack channel.
There will be a similar programme in 2023 and if you want to hold the dates in your diary here they are. All sessions are at 19:00 - 20:30 pm (UK time) and hosted on Zoom: January 23rd, March 28th, May 22nd, July 7th, September 26th, and November 21st.
In case you missed it...

Coach Profile update
On joining the KYM community each of you will have completed a coach profile. Increasingly our prospective organisational clients are asking for examples of the range and diversity in our coaching community. To this end we are requiring all coach profiles to be updated to include the additional information fields that have been incorporated recently.
Here's a short video to guide you through the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKvuqP8X78Y&feature=youtu.be
