It won’t come as any surprise that we read a lot on the subject of developing the young workforce. The different approaches and ideas of how to develop skills for a future we still don’t completely know fascinates us. We’ve got our own perspective but we know ours isn’t the only voice.
And while there isn’t a consensus, it’s clear that the young workforce of today will work in a completely different World to that of previous generations. The pace of change and advancing technology is set to launch the fourth industrial revolution.
We’re creating a white paper called ‘Developing the Future Today’. In it, we’ll share the collective wisdom of business leaders, academics and our peers to better understand what is a very real challenge. Our job is to facilitate a broader conversation so that we can develop a much deeper understanding of the nature of the challenge as well as viable solutions to it.
Our white paper will only be as good as the people who share their perspective with us. So, we’re looking for your help. If you are or know any leaders of larger organisations with a vested interest in the support of young people today and in the future, we’d be really grateful for an introduction.
To help you, the organisational leaders we want to speak to will typically meet one or more of the following.
- Employ over 1,000 people.
- Have either a graduate or apprentices scheme.
- Have a large 18-30-year-old workforce.
- Committed to the support of their young people.
To be even more specific here are some of the industries that we’d like to have represented in our white paper.

But that’s just ten. Our aim is to collect the thoughts from 50 leaders, so if you know others that fit the bill, please get in touch.
To get a balance to the paper, we don’t just want to speak to leaders, we also want to share the thoughts of leading thinkers in this space. If you know any academics or specialists in the field of skills development in the future or the support of ‘early careerists’, again, it would really help us out if you could make an introduction.
The truth is, the challenge exists today, and it’s only going to deepen in the future. Now is the ideal time to start the conversation and develop clear insights that can help organisations and young people lay the foundations together.
The paper will be created in 2 phases. In phase, we’re conducting interviews throughout May and June 2018 for an initial launch of the paper in July. In phase 2, interviews will continue as we deepen the research, before releasing the final paper in August 2018.

The intention of this initiative was to speak with sectors and industries across the globe.
